COMMUNITY HOLIDAY EVENT SCHEDULED

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… to get to know your
neighbors. Madera has been lucky to have hosted many successful
events in an effort to bring neighbors together for a chance to become better acquainted. Our next event is scheduled for Monday, December 20th beginning at 6:30pm upstairs at the Lakeland Community Center. All guests are encouraged to bring a $10 (or less) bottle of wine to share and an appetizer, snack or dessert to share with neighbors. We hope you can make it to the holiday event.

COLD WEATHER REMINDERS

The weather man is predicting doom and gloom this winter season. To keep you and your home safe through this winter weather, there are a few tips to keep in mind:
  • Keep the Heat On! If you are leaving Madera this winter to escape to warm sunny weather somewhere else, keep your heat on! The Polygon Warranty for your home very clearly states that to keep your fire sprinkler suppression lines from freezing during harsh winter weather, your interior heat should never be set lower than 60 degrees. A frozen fire line can do a HUGE amount of damage in a very short amount of time. Keep your home and your belongings safe.

  • Put your Name on it! If the last round of wind is any indicator of how things may go this winter, we’d better all be ready for some blustery days. One tip from your landscape committee chair, Jean, “Madera owners may want to clearly write their name with permanent marker on their garbage can and their lids. That way if they blow over, they can be matched back up again.”

  • Baby it’s Cold out there! Reminder to “B” Unit owners to shut off the outside hose bib water supply. The shutoff is in your garage. Yes, we know that the bibs have recessed shut offs which are frost free and shouldn’t freeze, but if you’ve ever had a waterline break inside your unit, you won’t want to take chances.
To all owners: Make sure you’ve disconnected any hoses! As above, it isn’t fun to have a hose break, especially if you shut it off with a nozzle. The water will run until you turn the handle on the bib off.

Attention: TO MADERA HOMEOWNERS in “B” UNITS

Please turn off the front exterior hose bib water. The shutoff is located in the garage, behind your water tank. Simply turn off the smaller of the two knobs.

Melissa Musser - Association Manager

Melissa is ready to help lead and guide the new Board and to provide his expertise in working with Homeowner Associations.  By now most of you know Melissa or maybe have seen her walking around the community.   Make sure you introduce yourself if you have not met her.

Homeowner Hobbyist - Photographer Ron Standley
Don't forget to check the Photo Album's. We have featured many of Ron Standley' photographs.  Madera is home to many species of beautiful birds and Ron has a knack for getting shots of them in all their splendor.  See "Ron's Hummingbirds" album for an amazing shot of a hummer coming in for a landing!
Also view "Ron's Sunsets at Madera" for some beautiful sunsets.

Homeowner Photos
Does anyone have really great photos of life in the community, the homes or the wildlife that they would like to share?  Send them to Carey Roos for posting to Photo Album!  We need some more current photos taken by homeowners!

Insurance Facts
Have you wondered what the Madera Homeowners' Association insurance covers?  Have you been confused about "what kind of insurance" and "how much" to purchase for your home at Madera?  Well, an insurance fact sheet as been posted to answer these questions!  Look in "Documents" for "Insurance Fact Sheet."
Also!  The HOA Certificate of Insurance (policy now including earthquake coverage) can be found in "Documents."
If you still have questions after reading the sheet, please e-mail the Board and Association Manager using "Contact Us" above.

Madera Homeowner Directory
The Social Committee headed by Marty and Marie Gosciniak has created a Madera Homeowner Directory.  If you missed inclusion in the first printing and would like to be included next time, let Marty and Marie know by e-mailing them at m-mg@comcast.net.
